In light of the likely fact that I've been hearing KGYN on day pattern of late, you all might be interested in the text of the QSL letter I received today: "I would like to thank you for your contact report. We are KGYN 1210AM, 10,000 watts of power. Our transmitter is located five and a half miles east of Guymon. We broadcast hard Directional West after sunset. We would like to thank you once again." {Richard Ryther, Operations Manager] He did NOT use the prepared QSL card I sent, I think, because it noted the actual time I heard the station (well after sunset in Guymon). However, I think I am lucky to get even this because many stations I have heard "cheating" with power or pattern never respond at all, perhaps to avoid leaving a paper trail! You are lucky to get the ppc back from KIT-1280. I QSL'd them back in the 60s from AK when they had a QSL card. I talked with their " old " CE several years back when someone else wanted a QSL. He wasn't all that thrilled about reports. I thought it was a bit strange as most of the older engineers are better at QSLing that the newer ones. I guess KIT will answer by ppcs on occasion, which is saf as they are a 3 call letter station. I found QSLing AZ and NM stations a lot easier than the NW ones while I was in Rancho Mirage. Auch bei mir kam eine Blankokarte (diese gelben Karteikärtchen für's Büro), aber auch mit allen Details, Stempel und Unterschrift. v/s dürfte auch noch der gleiche sein und die Bestätigung geht sehr zuverlässig. Die Station KJES bestätigt auch zur Zeit noch. Ein Bericht an den 'Technical Manager' wurde nach 50 Tagen mit einer QSL-Karte und der Frequenzliste bestätigt. Eingang der Post : Dezember 2000. Today, I received a full data QSL from KJES, Vado, New Mexico, USA after exactly 14 days. Reception report was sent by ordinary airmail. The QSL is not really something special. The ultimate reward came in the form of an email from Jack Swart, Market Manager tonight, confirming my reception. They have a reasonably favourable nighttime antenna pattern (going NNW) but only 1000 watts so they're in for some tough competition on the frequency, not only from 50 kW KJNP Alaska but from European stations as well.
