Was war die längste Laufzeit für eine QSL zu bekommen!!!! Bei mir 2555 Taggen (6 Jahre 11 Monate) Dass war für den Empfang von WFLA in Tampa (USA) in FM Modus auf 25870 kHz gesendet an die Station den 29.1.1994 und QSL Brief bekommen am 5.1.2001, habe gar nicht mehr daran gedacht, aber ist angekommen, gedult ist Leitmotiv. Zu meiner Überraschung fand ich heut in meinem Postkasten eine QSL von WFLA Tampa 25870 kHz. Laufzeit 419 Tage, der Bericht stammt vom November 99. Bestätigt wurde mit einem PPC + f/d Brief. Als Souvenir lag ein Sticker bei. Es wurde die bekannte Adresse 4002 Gandy Blvd. Tampa, Florida 33611 verwendet. v/s war John Mc. Martin, Chief Engineer WFLA & WFLZ. Rp war USD 1. Auf dem PPC ist die Leistung mit 60W und die Antenne mit 8ft vermerkt. Die Station galt eine Zeitlang als beharrlicher Nichtbestätiger. Na ja, ich hab mir für das neue Jahr ja auch in manchen Dingen Besserung vorgenommen : -) Vielleicht hat das WFLA auch getan. M.Zwoch-D direct to QIP Jan 01

WGTG doesn't appear to reply to reception reports even when IRC's and dollars are sent. They sent a batch of QSLs out after about a year on the air I haven't seen any responses from them since. I have the same experience as Mika Makelainen : an e-mail follow-up gave result and Dave Frantz told : " WE ARE WAY BEHIND ON ON QSL'ING DUE TO POLITICAL ATTACK SEEKING TO GET THIS STATION SHUT DOWN ANYWAY I WILL SEND YOU FULL QSL CARD ASAP ". (In fact there was some kind of trouble with the neighbors because WGTG broadcast religious programs of a " wrong " Church). But guess if the QSL ever came ? I agree with John Wright : I have heard that many DXers 5 USD or more to stations like this. I think we should agree to send a max 1 USD or 2 IRCs, because it seems that many stations have found this an easy way to collect some money. I was able to speak with Dave Frantz last night for over an hour, it was quite a conversation. Without spending the next hour typing the details of that conversation here is the bottom line. The 5 hours of program details stands. This 5 hours of programming can be over a extended time ie days, weeks or months, with 5 hours of detials WGTG has " an obligation to give an immediate reponse ". Whatabout the old reception reports, to be honest he " does'nt care ", Dave said they are not a priority now, expanding the station is. I explained to him his hard line " does'nt care " answer is not an answer, but a problem ! He went on to say that he was not sure where those reports are. They may have been " thrown out, lost or stored ". He has agreed to look for those reports when time permits and " if " found perhaps a maildrop / QSL service can be set up. I personally not holding my breath ! Anyone interested in hearing the story of setting up a SW radio station in Georgia, could call Dave Frantz at WGTG, he is really not the hard liner he appears to be. On a positive note reception reports received under the 5 hour policy, have been QSLed, they have recently mailed out. Dave mentioned QSLs sent out to " some Scandinavian DXers ". I know this really does'nt solve the issue (s), but perhaps gets to WGTG's bottom line. Please be assured that I am not happy with this commerical stations stand, but " at the end of the day " thats their call ! Let us hope things work out in the end. WGTG : Even if you've already tried, try an e-mail follow-up report once more at wgtg[ät]ellijay.com. Make it short, and remind the Mgr that you will be perfectly happy with a short e-mail reply. That clue is what worked for me in October -99. The Mgr couldn't care less about verifying reports, so DXers should make it easy for him. And e-mail is of course easy, cheap and quick. Good luck !
