In a separate ltr he says that, while they are supposed to forward rpts to Washington, he does not mind verifying direct rpts personally as long as the volume does not get too great, and as long as they are accompanied either by a SASE with U.S. postage (which he will return by unclassified diplomatic pouch), or by an IRC or $ 1 (in which case he will return by regular intl mail with Sao Tome stamps affixed). In regards to DXLD #5-050, Wayne Bastow said he'd received a QSL from the VOA for their 4930 kHz Botswana Relay but listed it as São Tomé; which is on 4960 kHz. I received a QSL today for a February 26th report for the São Tomé site correctly on 4960. I also sent a report in the same envelope for Botswana on 4930 kHz but, nothing. Same v/s. However, above the written in (correct) UTC time, in parentheses, the v/s wrote in 0433-0453; one hour later. Also received a nice VOA Program Guide, 2005 Wall Calendar, pen and fridge magnet. Neben einer detaillierten QSL-Karte mit Standortangabe und o. g. Relaisstation als Motiv lagen im Umschlag noch ein A4-Kalender sowie die Programmzeitschrift, Ausgabe Mai 2006. Lewis, Transmitting Station Manager in 1603 days for SASE. I brief accompanying letter apologized for the delay in the response. My letter was discovered among some papers while he was cleaning out his office preparing for retirement in North Carolina. Today (January 11), I recieved a QSL card from VOA (Satellites in Germany - site probably discussed in DXLD though I can't recall where it was). First of all, I find it odd that there was one sticker to confirm three reception reports - two in December (via Botswana and Briech) to the Audience Mail address and one from August direct to the IBB Sao Tome address. This past week I found a VOA QSL verifying a transmission from Kuwait I sent in January along with one verifying VOA's new relay in Bonaire. Both were no-data from Washington. I had a similar experience with Sao Tome in January. My report there was verified along with two others I had recently sent. The first new QSL received came from, of all places, VOA, verifying the Sao Tome relay station. While it confirmed the site, the rest of the data was wrong. Frequency was wrong, date was incorrect, time was wrong. I'm not certain if I should return it--along with the original letter -- asking for a correct card or keep it as is.
