Today I received to letters from SIM. Neither of them contained the QSL Card from Radio ELWA I had hoped for. The letter from SIM USA contained an official receipt for the dollar I had enclosed as return postage and a sticker saying that a reponse to my reception report will be forthcoming from the appropriate department. No luck with the other letter, either. The reception report sent on 10 February by registered mail to Radio ELWA (via SIM mission in Abidjan as suggested by Ron Sonius, the former director of the SIM mission in Liberia) came back undelivered. I opened the envelope to check its contents and sure enough, the dollar was gone. Somebody at the Abidjan post office was skillful enough to rip off the greenback without damaging the envelope : - ( | E.Gehrig-E | HCDX-ML | Apr 00 |

Vo Liberty Index Liberia Index Africa
For my report of 2 Feb 2004: On 6 Feb 2004 I received a jpg e-mail QSL from Voice of Liberty, Monrovia, Liberia 11514.4 kHz. It was sent by Morgan Freemen at WJIE (morgan [ät] wjie.org). The transmitter was formely used by High Adventure in "Free Lebanon" and I actually have QSL-cards also from that station (both transmitter sites) from 1981 and 1990. While talking with Morgan, I got impression that he wants to handle the reception reports of this Liberian station and wishes the staff in Liberia not to be bothered with reports. I haven't heard them for last few days on/around 11515, so maybe there are again transmitter problems. | J.Savolainen-FIN | direct to QIP | Feb 04 |
